About gratitude and meditation

Are we just pacifying ourselves when searching for those 3 things each day that we are grateful for?  What are we doing and paying attention to if we have to make such a concerted effort to identify gratitude?  I spent my twentysomething, thirtysomething, and fortysomething years distracted and focused on the immediate only to awake and find myself a fiftysomething.    Do I really want to spend precious time watching my breath?

I think its time to walk because there is somewhere I want to go. To be grateful because gratitude is bubbling up inside my soul.  And if gratitude isn’t bubbling up, maybe its time to figure out why.
