On being a rental unit

This week has been colored by the thought that I trade my life, about 9 hours of time/life for 5 days each week, in return for money.  I am a rental unit. Following that thought, it should not matter to me what I am asked to do or how much I am asked to do as long as it can all be done within the rental period.   Baseball players deal with this more directly as they can be traded or be assigned to some other team.  Who they work for, where the home location is, whether they sit on the bench or play on the field is all somewhat irrelevant.

As a rental unit, it should not matter.

But it does and I’m taking this next step to becoming something more than a rental unit.
